Hi!
I am Helena (she/her), principal Art Therapist based in Athelstone, South Australia.
I am a late diagnosed AuDHD PDA parent, raising a neurodivergent and gender diverse family.
Having tried more talk-based therapy modalities unsuccessfully for over 10 years, I found help through creative Art Therapy processes. Expressing and healing intergenerational trauma, anxiety, learning my body signals and work with meltdowns, moving through carer burnout, and processing my diagnosis and life experiences through a neuro-affirming lens, ultimately arriving at an authentic, unmasked way of living.
During this healing process I also supported my children through burn-out.
And undertook a career-changing course of study, completing my Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Arts Practice.
From all of these experiences and learnings, Kookaburra Art Therapy emerged as a deeply values-aligned, inclusive, nature-based and trauma-informed Creative Arts Therapy practice supporting neurodivergent, gender divergent, queer folk (everyone welcome).
