Kookaburra Art Therapy offers nature-based, trauma-informed Art Therapy.
It is an intuitive, gentle, tangible approach that calms you and strengthens emotional processing, creativity, imagination and holistic thinking. It moves you out of tunnel vision, fear, anxiety, anger or shutdown. Art Therapy is validated through neuroscience research.
We use a variety of modalities and mediums - found nature objects, paints, sand, clay, sculpting wire, crayons, pencils and markers, raw wool fibres, paper. Anything can be a medium, and sessions are directed by what resonates with you.
As a gentle, high-autonomy, sensory- and trauma-informed therapeutic modality, nature-based Art Therapy suits autistic, ADHD, PDA individuals, as well as persons with language or communication differences, social differences, people with disabilities, as well as those holding high levels of anxiety and trauma in their body or struggling with depression or burnout.
Nature offers a felt sense of safety that enables therapeutic content to emerge and be worked with safely.
It also offers a non-clinical and judgment-free environment. There is space. Space to hold and reflect on difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Your senses come alive and ground you in the now, not the past. You are free to create new pathways.
