Hi!
I am Helena (she/her), registered Art Therapist based in Athelstone, South Australia and a late diagnosed AuDHD PDA parent of a neurodivergent and gender diverse family.
My personal journey has involved expressing and healing intergenerational trauma, neurodivergent unmasking, anxiety and burnout. I understand how these experiences affect you and those around you from a place of deep lived experience.
Kookaburra Art Therapy is a neuroaffirming, inclusive and trauma-informed Art Therapy practice for neurodivergent children and their families, often also gender divergent, with communication differences or otherwise non-neuronormative.
You are welcome just as you are. We work together.
My personal strengths as a therapist are: a warm, spacious, gentle holding of your truth, helping you to be with and move through - around - over - alongside hard things at your own pace, being seen and supported along the way.
Working in a softly embodied way, new insights come from you and are easier to integrate into your life.
I am proudly registered with ANZACATA, the peak professional body for Creative Arts Therapy in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. This means:
25 hours per year in Professional Development and best practices in the fields of Creative Arts Therapy, Nature based Therapy, and mental health in general;
A stringent code of conduct with a well established complaints pathway; and
like all qualified allied health professionals, regular paid supervision.
